Description
Unrefined virgin coconut oil, cold-pressed from fresh Sri Lankan coconut so it keeps its gentle aroma and clean flavour. Good for tempering curries, frying hoppers, baking, or a spoonful in your morning coffee.
In a Sri Lankan kitchen, coconut is never far from the stove. Before the curries go on, someone scrapes a coconut, presses the milk, and keeps the oil for the tempering that begins almost every dish.
This is virgin coconut oil made the unhurried way: fresh coconut, cold-pressed, never bleached or deodorised. That is why it still smells faintly of the fruit it came from, and why a spoonful in a hot pan fills the room before the curry leaves even hit the oil.
Use it the way Sri Lankan cooks do, for tempering and frying, and it will reward you. Use it for baking, oil pulling, or your hair and skin, and it does that too.
How to Use
- Temper curry leaves, mustard and onion to start a curry
- Fry hoppers, vadai and short eats
- Swap for butter in baking
