Description

Ripe jackfruit bulbs dried slowly into chewy golden strips. No sugar, no sulphur, no oil. Ripe jackfruit is intensely sweet on its own with a floral note somewhere between banana and pineapple, and drying concentrates all of it.

A ripe jackfruit is an event. They grow to the size of a small child, and once one is opened somebody has to deal with it, which usually means eating jackfruit for three days.

Drying is the old answer to that. The bulbs are separated, the seeds saved for curry, and the flesh laid out to dry into chewy strips that keep for months.

It is very sweet and it needs nothing added. Any dried jackfruit that lists sugar has been made from underripe fruit or is padding the weight.

How to Use

  • Eat as a snack straight from the bag
  • Chop into porridge or granola
  • Soak briefly and fold into a cake batter
  • Pack for a walk, it is dense and does not squash

Frequently Asked

None. Ripe jackfruit is already intensely sweet, and adding sugar is usually a sign the fruit was picked underripe or that somebody is padding the weight. Check the label on any dried fruit for exactly that.
