Description

The herbal shelf of a Sri Lankan household, boxed. Five loose infusions with nothing caffeinated in any of them: ranawara flowers, belimal blossom, cut iramusu root, dried lemongrass and ginger. Enough of each to work out which one you reach for, with a card explaining how each is brewed at home.

Sri Lankan houses do not keep one herbal tea, they keep several, and which one gets brewed depends on the weather, the time of day and who is feeling under it.

Ranawara is the afternoon pot. Belimal comes out when the evenings turn cool. Iramusu gets boiled and left to go cold for a hot day. Lemongrass and ginger are the everyday two, brewed for no particular reason at all.

Buying five pouches separately to find your one is an expensive way to experiment, which is the whole reason this box exists.

Frequently Asked

Yes, every one. None of them contains any Camellia sinensis leaf, so there is no tea in the botanical sense in the box at all. That is deliberate: this is the evening and afternoon shelf, not the morning one.
